This is a recipe a friend gave me. It was her grandmother's recipe and is really great. It is a very dense cake infused with the taste of lemon and pecans!
Grandmother's Buttermilk Cake
2 sticks butter 3 C sugar 4 eggs 3 C flour 1 and 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 and 1/2 tsp lemon extract 1 C buttermilk with 1/4 tsp baking soda added to it.
Cream butter and sugar together. Add the eggs one at a time. Beat thoroughly. Add flour and buttermilk alternately to the cream mixture. Then add the vanilla and lemon extracts. Mix well. Grease Angel Food pan heavily and thoroughly. In the bottom of the pan, put enough chopped pecans to cover the bottom (about one cup). Pour in the batter. Don't fill the pan too full. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 and 1/2 hours. Let stand in the pan 10 minutes to cool some before removing. Leave upside down so pecans will be on the top. May look a little brown, but it will be delicious! Cut strawberries and place around the cake to decorate if you'd like.
This cake is excellent as a coffee cake or as a cake to serve with fruit (strawberries) and to take to a social. I have made it many times and it is always a hit with my family or friends!

This dessert is a little heavy. It tastes delicious with a lighter meal such as chicken (lightly seasoned and grilled), corn on the cob and a nice, healthy salad with a vinaigrette dressing.

Very nice, thank you a lot for sharing the recipe here. I like some desserts a lot, and I often use the delivery from foxspizzanashville.com/menu/desserts/ for example, I don't really cook any of them haha. But maybe one day.. Do you have any recipes for beginners? I would appreciate any input
