To get the most flowers for your money, you may want to choose perennials because they multiply and come back each year. I love to plant Irises for their beauty, variety, hardiness and deer repellant qualities. They bloom in the Spring, so rarely (if ever) need watering. They love all types of soil as far as I can tell. We moved a flower bed and some were accidentally dozed under and forgotten. The result was that they came back here and there all over the yard! The deer never touch them, they smell nice and are great to cut and put in pretty vases around the house. I have had two different kinds for years. One is all purple, and one is purple and yellow. They are slightly different varieties and so one comes up in early Spring, and the other in late Spring. I do not know their names yet, (does anyone know what they are called?), but will have to find it out. I plan to add some new varieties to my yard next year. But these two will always be special since I got one kind from my mom about 9 years ago (I told you they were hardy!) and one kind from a friend.
Does anyone have any photos of their Irises or any comments you'd like to share?
